A very happy Tuesday everyone. Lots of exclamation marks today. Hopefully some of yesterday’s smile-inducing news will help get you through to the holiday weekend.

Let’s start with a long-awaited announcement. For years Philly sports fans have been calling for a WNBA team to call our own. Basketball is embedded in the foundation of the city. But how can we call ourselves a hoops mecca without a professional women’s’ squad? We now have confirmation to make that a reality.

Commissioner Cathy Engelbert announced Monday that the WNBA will establish franchises in Cleveland, Detroit, and Philadelphia in the coming years. The league is experiencing a surge in popularity, and it was only a matter of time before the next expansion. Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment will take ownership control, with Josh Harris acting as a spokesperson.

It’s better late than never! I hate that we’ll have to wait until 2030 to finally see the team take the court. But at least we finally have something in writing along with a timeline. I can’t wait to spectate and speculate on all of the reveals to come. LET’S GO [insert future team name here]!!!

On any other day this story would take the top spot. But I want to make it clear that this is no less joyous. But seriously, the PR team at the Phillies couldn’t have waited even a few more hours before gracing our social feeds with this floof?

Tugger takes questions from the notorious Philly sports media

On Monday the club introduced the world to Tugger, a Labrador retriever service dog in-training who will eventually be paired with a veteran with a disability. This is part of the Phillies’ service dog initiative with Team Foster and Warrior Canine Connection. Tugger was named after the late Philadelphia legend Tug McGraw who was also a U.S. Marine Corps reservist.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tugger spent the morning romping around the Phillies clubhouse interacting with players. He then addressed reporters at a press conference but was not able to properly convey his thoughts as he is a dog.

Check out the Phillies press release for more information and photos about this precious boy. I’ll keep tabs on his progress as a service dog and will try my best not to kidnap him next time I’m at CBP.

One final jersey tidbit today from our beloved Iggles. The team asked fans on social media who they remembered most wearing their rarely-used midnight green-on-green color combo.

Duce. Definitely Duce

This could be nothing, but the Eagles social media department are very intentional whenever they do something like this. I wouldn’t be surprised if they break these out for a game this upcoming season. And while it’s not my favorite look for theirs by any means, it would be fun for a one-off.

Thoughts?

Have a great week!

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
