It’s insane to think, but the MLB All-Star Game is quickly approaching, and while none of the Fightins’ are exactly leading in the early polls, we do have our first look at what they’ll be wearing for the festivities. The MLB has shared head-to-toe looks at what each of the teams will be donning, and something immediately stood out to me: the Phils caps kinda sorta work.

Let me elaborate. Each year the league visits a different MLB stadium for its studded mid-season exhibition. And as such, we see a rotation of designs and theming for the player jerseys and caps. In recent years, teams have leaned into their own designs to outfit the teams. As a result, you get a bunch of looks that are great for collectors but, for the rest of us, we’ll pass over them each time we scroll through the discounted items on the Phillies MLB Shop.

But this year, the team has two options that I could see myself actually wearing at CBP. Now, the 2025 iteration of the event will take place on July 15 in … Atlanta. And this year the (friggin’) Braves are paying homage to their (admittedly clean) lower-case “a” throwbacks.

But those elements might seem pretty familiar. What happens when you combine red, royal blue, and a star motif? Basically the Phillies’ entire identity (just missing the bell). The end result is a lid that fits the team quite well.

Look at those beauts! Sometimes elements shouldn’t work together and yet I find myself loving it. I don’t even know what you would call the top flap above the front panel but it looks like Captain America and the Phanatic teamed up for a New Era collab. The Braves really went ahead an made a warmup cap specifically for us (daw). And the game cap doesn’t look half bad either.

And finally, to round out the look the Phils will wear their traditional home jerseys with a ceremonial patch.

All in all I’m pleasantly surprised by this look. The theme actually looks on brand for the Phils and that just adds to it for me. What do you think, would you consider grabbing any of the merch?
